Sri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Samiti
Swami Vivekananda, the world-renowned disciple of Bhagwan Sri Ramakrishna, established Ramakrishna Mission and Ramakrishna Math on 1st May, 1897. The main objective of this organization is -आत्मनो मोक्षार्थं जगदहितायच- To Serve the World for One's Own Salvation.
The headquarters of the institution is at Belur village near Kolkata, on the western bank of the river Ganga. Along with spiritual uplift of humanity, the institution works for spiritual, social, cultural, and intellectual development. Its service activities are carried out without discrimination of caste, creed, religion, or sect.
The Ramakrishna Mission operates 295 centres worldwide, including 226 centres in India and 69 centres abroad. Through these centres, the Mission runs hospitals, student hostels, secondary schools, and colleges. A deemed university functions at Belur, Howrah. Education and research work are carried out in Sanskrit, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, and Computer Science in the University.
Schools and hostels are functioning in tribal and remote regions such as Narayanpur in Chhattisgarh, Along and Narottam Nagar in Arunachal Pradesh, and Hatamuniguda in Odisha. Along with improving the academic standards of students in these hostels, special emphasis is given to value education.
Ramakrishna Mission and Math in Maharashtra
In Maharashtra, authorized centers of Ramakrishna Mission and Math are located at Nagpur, Mumbai, Pune, Ch.Sambhaji Nagar, Sakwar ( Dist. Thane ), and Kolhapur.
In many districts of Maharashtra, several recognized Bhava Prachar Centers are functioning through Ramakrishna Vivekananda Bhava Prachar Parishad. These centers work under the guidance of Ramakrishna Mission and Math and strive to spread the message of “Shiva Bhave Jiva Seva” (serving living beings, viewing them as God).
Under the Maharashtra Public Trust Act, 1950, local devotees have come together to establish such Bhava Prachar Centers. There are such centers in 33 districts of Maharashtra. Sri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Samiti, Amravati is one such organization and has been functioning under the guidance of Ramakrishna Mission and Math for the last 63 years.

अमरावती व बडनेरा ही दोन जुळी शहरे नागपूरहून 152 किमी आणि मुंबईहून 663 किमी अंतरावर आहेत. अमरावती जिल्ह्याच्या उत्तरेस मध्यप्रदेशमधील बैतुल जिल्हा, ईशान्येस नागपूर जिल्हा, पूर्वेस वर्धा जिल्हा, दक्षिणेस यवतमाळ जिल्हा, नैऋत्येस वाशीम जिल्हा आणि पश्चिमेस अकोला व बुलढाणा जिल्हे आहेत. राष्ट्रीय महामार्ग क्रमांक 6 या शहरांना लागून जातो. अमरावती हे समुद्र सपाटीपासून 340 मीटर उंच आहे. अमरावती जिल्ह्यातील महत्त्वाचे पीक कापूस व सोयाबीन हे होय. अमरावती जिल्ह्यात कापसाची मोठी बाजारपेठ आहे. अमरावती जिल्ह्यातील सातपुडा पर्वत हा मध्यप्रदेश आणि महाराष्ट्राचा सीमावर्ती प्रदेश आहे. या जिल्ह्यातील वरूड आणि मोर्शी हे तालुके संत्र्यांसाठी प्रसिद्ध आहेत. अमरावती शहराला वडाळी तलाव व छत्री तलाव या दोन तलावांतून ब्रिटिशांच्या काळात पाणी पुरवठा व्हायचा.
अमरावतीचा इतिहास: अमरावती हे भारतातील महाराष्ट्राच्या विदर्भ प्रांतातील एक महत्वाचे शहर. अमरावती या शब्दाचा अर्थ पुराणातील इंद्रदेवाची नगरी ‘इंद्रपुरी’ असा होतो. या शहरात जुन्या काळी उंबराची झाडे खूप होती म्हणून या शहराला औदुंबरावती असे म्हणत, ते प्राकृतमध्ये उंबरावती झाले. नंतर ते उमरावती या नावाने प्रसिद्ध झाले. जुनी अमरावती येथील भगवान आदिनाथ ऋषभनाथ यांच्या इ.स.1097 मधील संगमवरी मूर्तीच्या पायथ्याशी असलेल्या शिलालेखावर ‘अमरावती’ या नावाचा पहिल्यांदा उल्लेख आढळतो.
